Copains, vriendinnen, sorcières, rebellen, activistes, dromers, travailleuses, stadsguerilleros, chômeurs fraudeurs, boomhutstrijdsters, stratèges de salon, gehandicapten, écrivains, cyborgs, kameraden, soeurs folles,...
Het is aan ons om te begrijpen waarom en hoe kolonisatieprocessen nog steeds actueel zijn, hoe ze functioneren, welke de nieuwe territoria zijn die ze zich toe-eigenen, wat de geschiedenis en de geschiedenis van de dekolonisatiestrijden ons kunnen leren om zo nieuwe vrijplaatsen te creëren. Wat zou Quilombo kunnen betekenen in het België van de 21ste eeuw?
A nous d'investir le concept de colonisation, de comprendre en quoi des processus de colonisation sont toujours à l'oeuvre actuellement, comment ils fonctionnent, quels sont les nouveaux territoires qu'ils s'approprient, qu'est-ce que l'Histoire, et l'Histoire des luttes de décolonisation, peuvent nous apprendre, nous donner pour inventer de nouveaux espaces de liberté. Que signifierait un Quilombo dans la Belgique du 21e siècle?

A l'heure de l'empowerment et autre parité ou processus participatif, on pourrait prétendre que les femmes dans le monde ont enfin des outils pour faire valoir leurs opinions. En est-il vraiment ainsi? Ne s'agit-il pas plutôt de nouveau mots pour maquiller d'anciennes pratiques excluantes? Pour le savoir, nous interrogerons la place des femmes dans les décisions politiques, nous verrons les difficultés qu'elles affrontent dans leurs fonctions politiques ou dans le militantisme.

Feminism, Precarity and Migration

Organised by the Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung in cooperation with MAIZ (Linz), Respect (Berlin) and Research group Hamburg.
When life becomes work and work becomes life, the difference between productive and reproductive work disappears. The precarious work conditions of reproductive work increasingly define paid work. Characteristic for this transformation of work are the emergence of life and work, the extension of worktime into private households, temporary contracts, individualised terms and condition, the demand for and implementation of emotional and affective activities. Precariousness points towards three levels: firstly, the commodification of subjective and creative skills; secondly, vulnerability, poverty and deregulation and thirdly, on the process of mobility and transnational migration. On these levels the re-organisation of the global division of work based on the intersection of class, gender, sexuality, race and ethnicity is taking place.

Once someone said that love is to give something you don't have to someone who doesn't ask for it. Could it also apply to art and open source programming? Is a gift free? What is the cost of immaterial work in an open source economy? When life becomes work and work becomes life, the difference between productive and reproductive work disappears. Paid work is being defined more and more by the precarious and informal working conditions of reproductive work. This transformation is characterized by the emergence of an indistinct pool of life and work: the extension of working hours into the home, temporary labour contracts and individualised terms and conditions, the demand for emotional involvement and affective activities. Is there a link between the 'immaterial' and 'invisible' work of all 'home' workers: housewives, opensource programmers, artists, e-workers, etc? Are there possible models for contracts, social protection, working conditions that would give visibility to the multilayered, flexible and generous workers without commodifying and enclosing them? Should we define a common policy? Do we want regulations or increased flexibility?
