<...the idea...>

The idea to create a (one more - but one of the few...) feminist space at the European Social Forum in Florence inspired a number of us. A space in which feminist perspectives on the process of globalisation, and the globalised resistance could be explored. A first conversation about this possibility took place at a NOISE Women's Studies Summerschool party, in the ACU, a political and social centre in Utrecht. An very soon other conversations - in real life, through email and through the phone - followed. A small working group, NG@ESF was established. We started organising around the themes we wanted to discuss, and widely distributed a call for participation. (incl. Italian and pdf-versions)

<...responses...>

The call for participation, indicating the kinds of topics we wanted to discuss, provoked many positive responses and encouragements. One of these responses was an elaborate text proposing some important reflections before going to the ESF, also reflecting on what space the ESF could be, and how we to make meaningful interventions:

<...financial support...>

Being concerned with the material conditions in the creation of this feminist space, we applied to Mama Cash for funding in order to make it possible for interested feminists to come to the workshop and the forum. In total 18 women (4 of the NG@ESF working group and 14 participants to the workshop) could rely on the financial support of Mama Cash, crucial in the realisation of this workshop
